A battery operated air freshener with a housing having means for mounting the air freshener to a surface such as a wall. A motor inside the housing is electrically connected to a fan and to a battery. A replaceable cartridge with vents defining an air flow path carries a deodorizing substance and a battery. The replaceable cartridge having a receptacle is positioned within the housing such that the battery carried by the cartridge fits between spaced electrical contacts connected to the motor and hence to the fan resulting in air flow through the deodorizing substance. An anti-bootleg device in the housing has at least one prong extending into the cartridge receptacle, whereby a cartridge having an appropriate receptacle to receive the anti-bootleg device fits within the housing such that the battery carried by the cartridge fits between the spaced electrical contacts thereby establishing an electrical circuit to operate the fan. But an anti-bootleg device in the housing with a cartridge without the appropriate receptacle precludes the battery carried by the cartridge from fitting between the spaced electrical contacts and the electrical circuit is not completed rendering the air freshener inoperative.
La présente invention a pour objet un assainisseur d'air fonctionnant à piles et qui est logé à l'intérieur d'un boîtier destiné à être fixé sur une surface, tel un mur. Un moteur, monté à l'intérieur du boîtier, est monté en continuité électrique entre un ventilateur et une pile. Une cartouche remplaçable dotée d'évents et définissant un circuit d'écoulement d'air renferme une substance désodorisante ainsi qu'une pile. La cartouche remplaçable comporte un réceptacle qui est positionné à l'intérieur du boîtier de telle sorte que la pile contenue à l'intérieur de la cartouche remplaçable s'ajuste dans l'espace séparant les bornes électriques connectées au moteur et au ventilateur, lequel assure la circulation d'air à travers la substance désodorisante. Un dispositif intraficable est monté à l'intérieur du boîtier et comporte au moins une broche en saillie vers l'intérieur du réceptacle aménagé dans la cartouche; cette broche assure que seule une cartouche de configuration adéquate ne pourra être mise en place à l'intérieur du boîtier de manière à ce que la pile logée à l'intérieur de la cartouche puisse s'ajuster dans l'espace séparant les bornes électriques connectées au moteur et au ventilateur pour assurer la circulation d'air à travers la substance désodorisante. L'introduction d'une cartouche non dotée du réceptacle approprié aurait pour effet d'empêcher la pile de s'ajuster dans l'espace séparant les bornes électriques, laissant ainsi l'appareil à circuit ouvert et interdisant de ce fait le fonctionnement de l'assainisseur d'air.
