An air/fuel ratio control apparatus for smoothening variation of air/fuel ratio among a plurality of cylinders of an internal combustion engine is provided. The apparatus comprises a sensor for measuring output of the internal combustion engine. The apparatus calculates a correlation function of each cylinder by taking a cross-correlation of a value measured by the sensor and a reference signal for each cylinder. The apparatus calculates a smoothing target value which is common for all of the cylinders. The apparatus includes cylinder controllers for producing control input to the respective cylinders such that correlation function converges to the smoothing target value. Regardless of modeling error and dead time, the air/fuel ratio converges to the target value quickly.

L'invention concerne un appareil de commande du rapport air-carburant afin d'atténuer la variation du rapport air-carburant dans plusieurs cylindres d'un moteur à combustion interne. L'appareil comprend des capteurs destinés à mesurer la sortie du moteur à combustion interne. L'appareil calcule une fonction de corrélation de chaque cylindre en prenant une corrélation croisée d'une valeur mesurée par le capteur et un signal de référence pour chaque cylindre. Il calcule aussi une valeur cible d'atténuation commune pour tous les cylindres. L'appareil comprend un dispositif de commande de cylindre destiné à produire une entrée de commande vers les cylindres respectifs de sorte que la fonction de corrélation convergent vers la valeur cible d'atténuation. Sans égard à l'erreur de modélisation et au temps mort, le rapport air-carburant converge rapidement vers la valeur cible.
