ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An earth boring rock bit having a sealed bearing with air or gas as the circulating medium. An annular groove is formed in the vicinity of the seal and connected to the interior of the bit for cooling the seal and cleaning debris from the area of the seal. An air groove scraper is mounted on the shaft in the exit port of the annular groove to prevent the annular groove from becoming plugged by debris mixing with moisture in the hole.
