A coring method and apparatus is provided for extracting a core sample from a subterranean formation and/or drilling a hydrocarbon well, the coring apparatus having: a pneumatic reciprocating hammer having a first end for operatively connecting the pneumatic reciprocating hammer to a drill string, a second end having a hammer bit and a reciprocating piston for reciprocating the hammer bit; and a coring member operatively connected to the pneumatic reciprocation hammer, the coring member comprising an impact anvil and a hollow coring barrel forming an internal longitudinal chamber for accommodating the core sample, the coring barrel positioned below the impact anvil; whereby when the hammer bit strikes the impact anvil, the coring barrel is driven into the formation and the core sample is extracted into the internal longitudinal chamber of the coring barrel.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destinés à extraire une carotte échantillon d'une formation souterraine et/ou à percer un puits d'hydrocarbures, l'appareil de carottage possédant : un marteau pneumatique se déplaçant en va-et-vient et comportant une première extrémité pour raccorder fonctionnellement le marteau pneumatique en va-et-vient à un train de tiges de forage, une seconde extrémité comportant un trépan de marteau et un piston en va-et-vient permettant de faire aller et venir le trépan de marteau, ainsi qu'un élément de carottage raccordé fonctionnellement au marteau pneumatique en va-et-vient, l'élément de carottage comprenant une enclume d'impact et un corps creux de carottage formant un compartiment longitudinal interne afin de loger la carotte échantillon, le corps de carottage étant positionné en dessous de l'enclume d'impact grâce à quoi, lorsque le traitement du marteau frappe l'enclume d'impact, le corps de carottage est entraîné dans la formation et la carotte échantillon est extraite dans le compartiment longitudinal interne du corps de carottage.
