A sector plate static sealing arrangement for a rotary regenerative air preheater (10) employs a single rib (58) attached to and extending along the center line of the sector plate (56) toward the air preheater casing (12). The rib (58) cooperates with a static seal (60) attached to the casing (12) to provide both the sealing and positioning functions. Braces (66) for the rib (58) provide support and form a sloped surface which reduces ash accumulation.
