A lid ( 1 ) for an airbag accommodated in the instrument panel of a motor vehicle. For economy and simplicity of manufacture it is made of a relatively hard plastic. It is characterized in that it comprises a lower layer ( 2 0 of soft and resilient plastic and an outer layer ( 3 ) of hard plastic and in that both layers ( 2 & 3 ) are essentially fastened together adhering totally surface to surface. The outer layer ( 3 ) can be made of a plastic that matches the material of the surface of the instrument panel in appearance, feel, and acoustics.

Couvercle (1) pour sac gonflable aménagé dans le tableau de bord d'un véhicule motorisé. Pour raison d'économie et de simplicité de fabrication, le couvercle est fabriqué d'un plastique relativement rigide, caractérisé par sa composition, qui compte une couche inférieure (2) de plastique souple et élastique et une couche externe (3) de plastique rigide, et par le fait que les deux couches (2 et 3) sont essentiellement fixées ensembles et que chacune des surfaces adhère totalement à l'autre. La couche externe (3) peut être fabriquée d'un matériau correspondant à celui de la surface de l'instrument de bord, en ce qui à trait à l'apparence, le toucher et les qualités acoustiques.
