A self-contained, hand-held device for testing an aircraft helmet communication system including a microphone and earphones in which a selection switch on the housing of the device is movable from an off position to a talk-through position at which the microphone is connected to both the earphones and a volume indicator on the housing and to a selftest position in which actuation of a pushbutton switch on the housing applies the output of an oscillator both to the volume indicator and a circuit having a voltage divider made up of a potentiometer and a fixed resistance to provide a self-test signal which energizes an illuminable element on the housing if the device is functioning properly and to an earphone impedance test position at which the output of the oscillator is applied to a circuit having a voltage divider made up of the potentiometer and the earphones to produce an earphone impedance-test signal which energizes the illuminable element if the earphone impedance is of the correct value. The potentiometer is adjustable from outside the housing.
L'invention est un dispositif autonome à main servant à vérifier les systèmes de communication de casques d'aviateur. Le dispositif de l'invention comprend un microphone et des écouteurs. Un commutateur de sélection monté sur le boîtier du dispositif peut être commuté d'un position d'arrêt à une position de conversation où le microphone est connecté aux écouteurs et à un indicateur de volume monté sur le boîtier en question, ainsi qu'à une position d'autovérification où l'enfoncement d'un bouton-poussoir monté sur le boîtier transmet le signal de sortie d'un oscillateur à l'indicateur de volume et à un circuit comportant un diviseur de tension constitué d'un potentiomètre et d'une résistance fixe pour produire un signal d'autovérification qui allume un voyant monté sur le boîtier quand le dispositif est en bonne condition de fonctionnement, ainsi qu'à un point de vérification de l'impédance des écouteurs où le signal est appliqué à un circuit comportant un diviseur de tension constitué du potentiomètre et des écouteurs pour produire un signal de vérification de l'impédance des écouteurs qui allume le voyant quand cette impédance a la valeur appropriée. Le potentiomètre en cause peut être réglé à l'extérieur du boîtier.
