The invention relates to an airplane (1), comprising a fuselage (2) having an elongate shape along a longitudinal axis X of the airplane, and at least one wing (3) attached to the fuselage between a front end and a back end (25) of the fuselage. The fuselage (2) comprises a substantially cylindrical central portion (21) and a rear scaleable portion (23) on which a vertical tail assembly (4, 4a) and a rear propulsion assembly are attached. Between a section (231) for connecting the rear portion (23) to the central portion (21) of the fuselage and the back end (25): the maximum width of each fuselage section is constant or increases towards the rear up to a maximum fuselage width L; the height of each fuselage section decreases towards the rear, such that the back end of the fuselage forms a thin trailing edge that is substantially horizontal in the indicating line of the airplane and substantially rectilinear; a reactor (51) for the propulsion assembly is provided in a so-called semi-buried configuration in the fuselage.

Le fuselage (2) comporte une partie centrale (21) sensiblement cylindrique et une partie évolutive arrière (23) sur laquelle est fixé un empennage vertical (4, 4a) et un ensemble propulsif arrière (50). Entre une section de raccordement (231) de la partie arrière (23) avec la partie centrale (21) du fuselage et l'extrémité arrière (25) : -la largeur maximale de chaque section du fuselage est constante ou croissante vers l'arrière jusqu'à une largeur maximale L du fuselage; -la hauteur de chaque section du fuselage est décroissante vers l'arrière, de telle sorte que l'extrémité arrière du fuselage forme un bord de fuite de faible épaisseur sensiblement horizontal dans le repère avion et sensiblement rectiligne; -un réacteur (51) de l'ensemble propulsif est installé dans une configuration dite semi-enterrée dans le fuselage.
