An airport map display system for an aircraft displays the airport paved surfaces and structures to a pilot or crew member. The system displays runways, taxiways, connectors, ramps, gates, and buildings. Hold and yield points may also be displayed. A compact set of specific data points and associated pavement width values is used to store unique data for each airport. Runway (21) is represented by location points (21B) and (21C). The runway width (21A) and elevation are determined at each of the two location points (21B) and (21C).

La présente invention concerne un système d'affichage de carte d'aéroport de façon qu'un aéronef affiche des surfaces en dur et des structures d'aéroport à un pilote ou à un membre de l'équipage. Ce système affiche des pistes, des voies de roulage, des transporteurs, des rampes, des portes et des bâtiments. Des points de retenue et de seuil d'écoulement peuvent aussi être affichés. Un ensemble compact de points de données spécifiques et des valeurs de largeur de surfaces en dur est utilisé pour stocker des données uniques pour chaque aéroport.
