ABSTRACT ALARM An alarm unit comprises a housing which encloses a sled which is displaceable vertically in the housing. The sled is held at an equilibrium position by a cord which extends out of the housing for attachment to a door or window. A cam surface on the sled actuates an annunciator when the sled is moved upwards by a tug on the cord, or when the sled falls downwards because of the cord being cut by an intruder.
