An alarm device for monitoring the pressure of the regulated low pressure side of a supply of inert gas in an inert gas welding system, is disclosed. The alarm device comprises a pressure sensor in fluid communication to a source of inert gas to be sensed. This pressure sensor produces an output signal based on the sensed pressure of the inert gas. A signal comparator has a first input and a second input, wherein the first input is connected to the pressure sensor to receive its output signal and the second input is connected to a reference source. An alarm is connected to the comparator so as to produce an alarm warning effected by a status signal produced by the comparator.
