An apparatus for discriminating between different types of alcohol contained in alcohol-gasoline fuel mixtures, such as methanol or ethanol, and a fueling system for controlling the quantity of alcohol-gasoline fuel mixture delivered to an internal combustion engine in accordance with type of alcohol determined to be present in the fuel mixture are described. The resistivity of the fuel mixture delivered to the engine is measured using a fuel resistance sensor. Based upon the measured resistivity, the type of alcohol contained in the fuel mixture is determined and indicated. The fuel system then adjusts the quantity of the fuel mixture delivered to the engine based upon the indicated type of alcohol and the sensed alcohol concentration in the fuel mixture.
Dispositif permettant de distinguer différents types d'alcool contenus dans les mélanges de carburants alcool-essence, comme le méthanol ou l'éthanol, et système d'alimentation servant à régler la quantité du mélange de carburants alcool-essence se rendant à un moteur à combustion interne selon le type d'alcool jugé présent dans le mélange. La résistivité du mélange de carburants alimentant le moteur est mesurée à l'aide d'un détecteur de la résistance du carburant. Le type d'alcool présent dans le mélange de carburants est établi et indiqué d'après la résistivité mesurée. Le système de carburant règle ensuite la quantité du mélange de carburants alimentant le moteur en tenant compte du type d'alcool indiqué et de la concentration d'alcool détectée dans le mélange de carburants.
