PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne le couplage d'une réaction de vaporéformage effectué dans une zone de traitement à la vapeur du méthane notamment et d'une réaction de synthèse d'alcools à partir du gaz de synthèse produit dans la zone de vaporéformage. Le procédé objet de l'invention est caractérisé par un recyclage vers la zone de vaporéformage d'au moins une partie du gaz carbonique et des hydrocarbures légers présents dans la phase gazeuse de la zone de synthèse d'alcools. Le procédé objet de l'invention s'applique notamment à la produc- tion de méthanol et d'alcools homologues supérieurs.
