ALIGNING AND CENTERING MEANS FOR ARMS OF FORK-SHAPED PLATE CARRIERS DURING LOADING AND UNLOADING OF PLATES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An alignment and centering device is associated with a carrier having two fork arms and a transverse base to which the rearward ends of the fork arms are attached and which is connected with a conveyor mechanism in a framework with a plate-loading station, and plate-feeding means therein for advancing plates toward the free fork ends of the fork-shaped carrier in a plate-advancement plane. The alignment and cen- tering device comprises rearward and forward engaging means on an outer wall of each fork arm, facing away from the other fork arm; aligning means for engaging the rearward en- gaging means; and forward, centering aligning means for en- gaging the forward engaging means on the fork arm after the rearward engaging means have been engaged by the first align- ing means. The device is stationary on the framework and the first and second aligning means are displaceable therein parallel with the plate-advancement plane.
