ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A circular thrust displacement disc is supported so as to be deflected when a thrust plate is loaded by end thrust from the carrying roller shaft. A measuring device is provided which constantly indicates or senses the deflection of the displacement disc. Conversion of the sensed deflection will give end thrust forces and the support roller can be adjusted accordingly when these thrust forces exceed a predetermined amount.
