The present invention provides a fiber optic buffer tube made of an aliphatic polyketone, wherein the aliphatic polyketone is a terpolymeric aliphatic polyketone. More specifically, the aliphatic polyketone is CarilonTM. The present invention can also be viewed as describing a fiber optic cable. The fiber optic cable is made of at least one buffer tube and at least one transmission medium positioned within the buffer tube. The buffer tube is made of an aliphatic polyketone; more particularly, the buffer tube is made of a terpolymeric aliphatic polyketone. More specifically, the aliphatic polyketone is CarilonTM.
