Alkali soluble thickeners are dislcosed which comprise a reaction product of (A) an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, (B) a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer different from monomer (A), and (C) a hydrophobic, alkoxylated macromonomer polymerizable with monomers (A) and (B). The monoethylenically unsaturared monomer different from monomer (A) comprises a methyl group, preferably is an acrylate and more preferably is methyl acrylate. The polymers disclosed solubilize at a pH of from about 4.5 to 6.0, thereby rendering the polymers particularly suitable for use in cosmetic compositions.
L'invention concerne des épaississants solubles aux alcalis comprenant un produit de réaction de (A) un monomère d'acide carboxylique insaturé, (B) un monomère à insaturation monoéthylénique différent du monomère (A), et (C) un macromonomère hydrophobe alcoxylé polymérisable avec les monomères (A) et (B). Le monomère à insaturation monoéthylénique différent du monomère (A) comprend un groupe méthyle, de préférence un acrylate et idéalement du méthylacrylate. Les polymères de l'invention sont solubles à un pH d'environ 4,5 à 6,0, rendant ainsi les polymères particulièrement aptes à une utilisation dans des compositions de cosmétiques.
