Disclosed is an alkanol-free alkoxylate of general formula CnH2n+1O(A)x(B)yR, wherein R represents C1-6 alkyl or benzyl, A represents ethyleneoxy, B represents C3-6 alkyleneoxy or mixtures thereof, groups A and B being provided in a statistically distributed fashion, alternatingly, or in the form of two or several blocks in random order, n represents an integer ranging from 4 to 8, x represents a number ranging from 0 to 25, and y represents a number ranging from 0 to 10, the sum of x + y being at least 3.
