An alkali cell having a positive electrode composite material containing manganese dioxide and nickel oxyhydroxide as active materials respectively, a negative electrode containing zinc as an active material, and an alkaline electrolyte, characterized in that the manganese dioxide has a potential relative to a mercury/mercury oxide electrode of 270 mV or more in an aqueous potassium hydroxide solution having a KOH concentration of 40 wt %.

L'invention concerne une pile alcaline présentant une électrode positive en matière composite contenant du dioxyde de manganèse et de l'oxyhydroxyde de nickel en tant que matières actives respectives, une électrode négative contenant du zinc en tant que matière active, et un électrolyte alcalin, caractérisée en ce que le dioxyde de manganèse présente un potentiel relatif à une électrode d'oxyde de mercure/mercure supérieur ou égal à 270 mV dans une solution d'hydroxyde de potassium aqueuse présentant une concentration KOH de 40 % en poids.
