Abstract of the disclosure: Novel alkoxy derivatives of N-substituted cyclic amines of the formula Image (I) where R1 is hydrogen, an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms an aryl group having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aralkoxy or aroxy group, R2 is a linear or branched alkylene group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the chain, X is OR3, where R3 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Y is hydrogen, (C1-C4)-alkyl, (C1-C4)-O-alkyl, or in the case where R1 is an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Y is not H, and known alkoxy derivatives of the same formula (I) which differ from the novel alkoxy derivatives by the fact that R1 of formula I in an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms only and Y is only H, are prepared by electrolysis of N-substituted cyclic amines of the formula (II) Image where R1 and R2 are as defined above and Y' is H, C1-C4- alkyl or O-(C1-C4)-alkyl, with an alcohol of the formula R3OH (R3 being also as defined above) in the presence of at least one alkali metal or tetra-(C1-C6)-alkyl-ammonium-tetra- fluoroborate, -hexafluorophosphate and/or -nitrate as con- ducting salt, at a temperature of up to 100°C, in an electro- lysis cell containing a stationary or streaming electrolyte. Depending on the current quantity used, monoalkoxylated (Y = H) or dialkoxylated (X = Y = OR3) products I are obtained. The compounds are interesting products, especial- ly for the preparation of OC,W-diaminocarboxylic acids (if Y is H), or for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals or plant protecting agents. Several of the alkoxylated compounds are excellent fungicides per se.
