ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An improved process for the preparation of alkoxylated formaldehyde-amino compound resins. By using a sequential procedure, and an alkanol of up to 8 carbon atoms it is possible to remove both the water in the aqueous formaldehyde used and the water from the alkoxylation reaction azeotropically. The products of this invention afford resins of better quality, especially in terms of color and clarity, than the products derived from alcoholic formaldehyde solutions.
