An aqueous emulsion of an alkyd resin which contains as an emulsifier at least one branched primary alcohol alkoxylate of the formula (I): [CH3.(CH2)n] [CH3.(CH2)m].CH.[(CH2)p.O.(AO)q.H], where n and m are each independently from 1 to 13; and p is 1 or 2; such that n+m+p is from 5 to 15; AO is an alkylene oxide residue having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, and q is from 5 to 50. The alkyd emulsion is particularly suitable for use as a waterborne paint or surface coating composition.

L'invention concerne une émulsion aqueuse d'une résine alkyde contenant, en tant qu'émulsifiant, au moins un alcoxylate d'alcool primaire ramifié, représentée par la formule (I): [CH 3?.(CH 2?) n?] [CH 3?.(CH 2?) m?].CH.[(CH 2?) p?.O.(AO) q?.H], dans laquelle n et m représentent chacun indépendamment de 1 à 13; et p représente 1 ou 2; de façon que n+m+p représente de 5 à 15; AO représente un résidu d'oxyde d'alkylène possédant de 2 à 4 atomes de carbone, et q représente de 5 à 50. Cette émulsion alkyde est particulièrement adaptée pour un usage en tant que peinture à l'eau ou composition de revêtement de surface.
