ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure relates to alkyl 2-nitro-5-(2',4'-di- chlorophenoxy)thiobenzoate and the process for preparation there- of which comprises reacting 2-nitro-5-(2',4'-dichlorophenoxy) benzoic acid or its reactive derivative at the carboxy group with a compound of the formula R - SH wherein R is a lower alkyl group. The disclosure also relates to the composition for kill- ing weeds, especially in a wheat field, incorporating the above compounds. Also, methods of killing weeds are disclosed.
