AGENT FOR OIL RECOVERY AND PROCESS OF RECOVERY Abstract New compositions comprising salts of alkyl glyceryl sulfonates are found to be effective surfactants for use in the recovery of oil from subterranean geologic formations. The materials can be employed in aqueous displacement brines, quite effectively in conjunction with other surfactant materials of known type, and they exhibit high stability against hydrolytic degradation frequently encountered with prior art materials in the presence of salt and alkaline earth metal ions as usually encountered in aqueous brines as used in the field.
