This invention relates to an alkylene oxide catalyst which contains silver and one or more alkali metal promoters supported on a carrier prepared by a process which comprises mixing particulate ceramic components with from 0.5 to 50 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the ceramic components, of a synthetic organic polymer in the form of a powder having an average particle size of less than 400 micrometer and an ash content of less than 0.1 % by weight, and then en firing at a temperature sufficient to bum off the synthetic organic polymer, sinter the particulate component and form a carrier.

L'invention concerne un catalyseur de préparation d'oxyde d'alkylène contenant de l'argent et un ou plusieurs promoteurs de métaux alcalins sur un support préparé par un procédé consistant à mélanger des constituants céramiques particulaires avec 0,5 à 50 parties en poids, sur la base de 100 parties en poids de constituants en céramique, d'un polymère organique synthétique se présentant sous la forme d'une poudre d'une grosseur particulaire moyenne inférieure à 400 micromètres, et d'une teneur en cendre inférieur à 0,1 % en poids, et ensuite à procédér à une cuisson à une température suffissante pour brûler le polymère organique synthétique, fritter le constituant particulaire et former un support.
