RD-19732 ALKYLPEROXYFORMATE-TERMINATED POLYCARBONATES AND THEIR CONVERSION TO HYDROXY-TERMINATED POLYCARBONATES Abstract Alkylperoxyformate-terminated polycarbonates are prepared by the reaction of an aromatic dihydroxy compound, preferably a bisphenol, with phosgene in one or two steps, in the presence of an alkyl-hydroperoxide such as t-butyl or 2-phenyl-2-propyl hydroperoxide. The alkylperoxyformate-terminated polycarbonate may be converted to hydroxy-terminated polycarbonate by heating in the melt.
