ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A soft, absorbent nonwoven material useful an all purpose wipe is disclosed. The material includes a three dimensional web of an open array of long fibers, a minor fraction of which have Z-direction orientation and regenerated cellulose fragments. The regenerated cellulose fragments are randomly dispersed throughout the web of fibers with the concentration of regenerated cellulose being greatest on and adjacent to the web surfaces and diminishing toward the web mid section. The fragments are adhered to the long fibers and, in combination with the Z-direction oriented fibers, unite the web into a coherent material.
