ABSTRACT A coin, a coin blank or a metal strip for the production of a coin or a coin blank having as its surface a copper based alloy containing between 15% and 30% (by wt) zinc, between 2% and 7% (by wt) tin and, optionally, between 2% and 7% (by wt) nickel. The alloy is gold-coloured, tarnish resistant, fabricable and wear resistant.
