ABSTRACT A waldable, low-alloy steel for Arctic service consisting essentially of 0.06 to 0.12% by weight carbon, 0.40 to 1.00% by weight manganese, 0.75 to 1.50% by weight nickel, 0.50 to 1.25 % by weight chromium, 0.15 to 0.40% by weight molybdenum, and up to 0.75% by weight copper, with total copper plus chromium not exceeding 1.50% by weight max.
