ABSTRACT A compatibilized blend of at least three polymers is provided. One polymer is a vinylidene chloride interpolymer, such as a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride. A second polymer is an olefin polymer, such as polyethylene. A third polymer is a compatibilizing polymer such as an ethylene/alkyl acrylate or an ethylene/alkyl methacrylate copolymer. The compatibilized blend, after melt processing, has mechanical properties which are better than those predicted by a straight line volume fraction relationship of the vinylidene chloride interpolymer and the olefin polymer. Impact energy is one mechanical properties which is greater for the compatibilized blend than for the two-component blend of the vinylidene chloride interpolymer and the olefin polymer.
