ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention comprises a suitably colored liquid composition which can be applied to wet or frozen lumber to provide identification marks or water repellent seals to the end grain so that such marks and seals are not removed by exposure to heavy rainfall. The composition can also be applied to wet or frozen logs or trees over bark or slimy wood to provide adherent marks which are not removed by heavy rainfall or immersion in water. Prior log marking paints or lumber end sealers can not be applied to wet or frozen wood or bark without being removed by subsequent rainfall. Plastic tags are difficult to apply and arc easily knocked off during handling of the logs. They are attractive to crows and sea-gulls and are frequently removed by such birds.
