Division II .delta.-SUBSTITUTED NEGAMYCIN DERIVATIVES AND SYNTHESES ABSTRACT Compounds having the structure Image were found to be antibacterial agents. They were synthesized by a process which comprises a) catalytically hydrogenating a compound of the formula Image wherein X is bromo or iodo, A is hydrogen and B is a monovalent amino- protective group or A together with B are a divalent amino-protective group and E is an easily removable ester-forming group and then b) removing any remaining ester-forming and amino- protective groups.
