ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel a-thio-alkalnoic acid derivatives and a process for their preparation. The derivatives have the formula Image (II) wherein Ar represents a phenyl group substituted with alkyl, halogen, aryloxy, substituted or unsubstituted amino, acyl and/or acyl protected with acetal, a naphthyl group substituted with alkoxy, or a thienyl group, a thienyl group substituted with acyl, or a thienyl group substituted with acyl protected with acetal; R" represents an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R represents an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl group; and R' represents a hydrogen atom or a alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms. These novel compounds can be easily converted to useful medicines.
