21/6 AN ALTERNATING CURRENT CONTROLLING SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thyristor arrangement is interposed between an AC power source and a load, and the thyristor arrange- ment is controlled by a signal in synchronism with the AC power source and a control signal thereby to control an electrical power supplied to the load. The signal in synchronism with the AC power source is produced by using a smoothing circuit for smoothing a distorted waveform of the AC power source and means for compensating phase lag due to the smoothing circuit.
