ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is an arrangement for producing alternating current by using a dc generator which permits the output frequency to be controlled or synchronized with another alternator so that the outputs can be parallel connected without reverse current protection and without elaborate speed control of the prime mover. A controlled alternating current is fed in three phase to the field windings of the dc generator. The commutator means are connected to the armature windings and to output terminals to provide three phase output. By supplying the field windings with a controlled frequency current and rotating the armature, an alternating signal will spear at the output terminals similar in frequency to that applied to the field windings. The frequency generated is independent of rotational speed of the armature. The arrangement is suitable for supplying ac to equipment carried in mobile units.
