In an altitude measuring device mounted on a movable body, the following process takes place. Based on a timing signal output at every second, pressure data is obtained by a sensor (504). Speed of the movable body is detected by a speed detecting portion (507). If the speed is not 0, a correcting value Poffset is subtracted from pressure data Psensor obtained by the sensor (504) by means of CPU (501), and a corrected pressure data Padj is calculated. Altitude value is calculated based on the corrected pressure data. The calculated altitude value is displayed on a display. Meanwhile, if the speed of the movable body is 0, the value obtained by subtracting corrected pressure data Padj from the measured pressure data Psensor is used as the correcting value Poffset. Therefore, the altitude value displayed while the movable body is stopped does not change.
