ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Aluminum base alloys which contain zinc, magnesium and copper, especially X7016 type alloy containing 4 to 5% zinc, 0.8 to 1.4% magnesium and 0.6 to 1.4% copper and which are adapted for extruding, solution treatment, hot working, quenching, aging and anodizing to achieve a bright surface appearance in artificially aged temper; and related wrought articles having a recrystallized metallurgical structure characterized by its resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
