ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention discloses a novel cable-sheath material suitable for use in power transmission lines. The material comprises an aluminum-base alloy containing at least one of less than about 1.7% by weight Mn and less than about 0.8% by weight Cr in the ranges defined as follows: 3.8 x Cr-content (wt.%) + 3.0 x Mn-content (wt.%) ? 5.1 3.8 x Cr-content (wt.%) + 3.0 x Mn-content (wt.%) ? 0.35 and from zero to less than about 0.5% by weight Li, the balance being aluminum plus impurities and residual elements. This material possesses excellent workability properties and allows less eddy current loss than the material of the prior art.
