J.713 (CA) Abstract The invention concerns an improved antiperspirant material consisting of a basic aluminium chloride/polyhydroxy compound complex of the empirical formula: A12 (OH)6-a Cla (HO)xRy where R is a polyhydroxy compound having at least 2 carbon atoms each of which is linked to a hydroxy group; a has a value of from 0.8 to 4.0, x has a value of from 0.5 to 2,5 and y has a value of from 0.2 to 5Ø The complex is characterized in that on analysis by a size exclusion chromatographic procedure it exhibits a fraction (referred to as the Band III fraction) having a relative retention time within the range 0.76 to 0.82 within which there is contained at least 15% of the total aluminium, less than 10% of the total aluminium being contained in polymers having a size exceeding 100 Angstroms.
