Aluminum hydroxide having a particle size of 2 to 30 µm and having small specific surface area and low resin filling viscosity can be prepared by using precipitated aluminum hydroxide composed of secondary agglomerated particles having a primary particle size almost equal to the desired average particle size of intended pulverized aluminum hydroxide as the starting material to be pulverized and pulverizing this starting aluminum hydroxide. This aluminum hydroxide has an average particle size of 2 to 30 µm, a surface roughness coefficient Sr/Sc (in which Sr represents the specific surface area of particles measured by the nitrogen adsorption method and Sc represents the specific surface area calculated from the size of particles approximated to spheres while taking the particle size distribution of particles into consideration) smaller than 2.5 and a linseed oil absorportion smaller than 30 cc/100 g as determined according to JIS K-5101.

On peut préparer de l'hydroxyde d'aluminium d'une granulométrie de 2 à 30 micromètres ayant une faible surface spécifique et une faible viscosité de charge de résine en utilisant, comme matière de départ à pulvériser, de l'hydroxyde d'aluminium précipité composé de particules secondaires agglomérées ayant une granulométrie primaire presque égale à la granulométrie moyenne recherchée de l'hydroxyde d'aluminium pulvérisé que l'on désire et en pulvérisant cet hydroxyde d'aluminium de départ. Cet hydroxyde d'aluminium présente une granulométrie moyenne de 2 à 30 micromètres, un coefficient de rugosité de surface Sr/Sc (où Sr représente la surface spécifique des particules mesurées par la méthode d'adsorption de l'azote et Sc représente la surface spécifique calculée à partir de la taille des particules assimilées à des sphères en prenant en considération la distribution granulométrique des particules) inférieur à 2,5 et une absorption de l'huile de lin inférieure à 30 cc/100 g selon la JIS K-5101.
