Abstract The invention concerns writing on light anodized aluminum surfaces. Substances which change color in contrast to their surroundings when acted upon by a laser beam of high energy density are added to the anodized layer. According to one proposal in the invention, this can lead to a chemical reac- tion of these substances with the anodized layer. Examples of the substances added to the anodized layer are glucose hydrate, cobalt acetate, zinc acetate or zinc nitrate, lead carbonate or chromium carbonate, ammonium vanadate, nickel nitrate or nickel acetate.
