A process for consolidating powder, particulates, foils or sheets of metal coated composites, elemental metallic or metallic alloy or intermetallic compounds into net shapes having increased green strength at or near ambient temperature comprises treating the material with an aqueous activation solution. The aqueous activation solution is selected from dilute acids, reducing agents, molten salt electrolytes and mixtures thereof. Pressure is used to consolidate the treated powders, particulates, foils or sheets into a net shape at or near ambient temperature.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de consolider la poudre, les particules, les feuilles métalliques ou les feuilles de composites enrobés de métal, d'alliages métalliques ou métalliques élémentaires ou, encore de composés intermétalliques. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir à une température ambiante, ou quasiment ambiante, des formes nettes qui possèdent une résistance accrue à l'état vert, ceci en traitant le matériau à l'aide d'une solution d'activation aqueuse. Cette solution d'activation aqueuse est choisie parmi les éléments du groupe suivant: des acides dilués, des agents réducteurs, des électrolytes à base de sels fondus ou, encore, des mélanges de ces derniers. On utilise un traitement sous pression afin de consolider la poudre, les particules, les feuilles métalliques ou les feuilles, et d'obtenir ainsi des formes nettes à une température ambiante ou quasiment ambiante.
