Amide derivatives represented by general formula (I), or their salts and medicinal compositions containing these derivatives and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, wherein each symbol has the following meaning: A: heteroarylene; X: a bond, O, S, -NR5-, -NR5 CO-, -NR5 CONH-, -NR5 SO2 - or -NR5 C(=NH)NH-; R1 : H, optionally substituted lower aryl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted heteroaryl or optionally substituted cycloalkyl; R2a and R2b : being the same or different from each other and each representing H or lower alkyl; R3 : H or lower alkyl; R4a and R4b : being the same or different from each other and each representing H or OH, or R4a and R4b forming together =O or =N-O-lower alkyl; and R5 : H or lower alkyl. These compounds are useful as remedies for diabetes having an insulin secretion accelerating effect together with an insulin sensitivity increasing effect.

Dans cette formule, A est hétéroarylène; X est une liaison, O, S, -NR<5>-, -NR<5>CO-, -NR<5>CONH-, NR<5>SO2- ou -NR<5>C(=NH)NH-; R<1> est H, alkyle inférieur éventuellement substitué, aryle éventuellement substitué, hétéroaryle éventuellement substitué ou cycloalkyle éventuellement substitué; R<2a> et R<2b>, qui sont identiques ou différents, sont chacun H ou alkyle inférieur; R<3> est H ou alkyle inférieur; R<4a> et R<4b>, qui sont identiques ou différents, sont chacun H ou OH, ou R<4a> et R<4b> forment ensemble =O ou =N &tilde& O-alkyle inférieur; et R<5> est H ou alkyle inférieur. Les composés décrits conviennent particulièrement pour le traitement du diabète car ils ont un double effet: accélération de sécrétion d'insuline et augmentation de sensibilité insulinique.
