Amine hydrofluorides of the general formula (I): R-N(CH2CH2OH)2 ~ HF (I) in which R is a straight-chain hydrocarbon residue having 10 to 20 carbon atoms, exhibit antibacterial and caries-prophylactic action. They can be prepared in a higher purity than other, already known amine hydrofluorides such as, for example, olaflur. Amine hydrofluorides of the formula (I) or mixtures of two or more thereof can be formulated as oral hygiene compositions.

L'invention concerne des fluorhydrates d'amines de la formule (I): R-N(CH2CH2OH)2 . HF où R représente un reste hydrocarboné à chaîne linéaire avec 10 à 20 atomes de carbone. Ces fluorhydrates d'amines ont une action antibactérienne et préventive sur les caries. Ils peuvent être produits avec une plus grande pureté que d'autres déjà connus, comme l'olaflur. Les fluorhydrates d'amines de la formule (I) ou les mélanges d'au moins deux d'entre eux peuvent être formulés comme agents d'hygiène dentaire.
