The invention is an amine-organoborane complex wherein the organoborane is a trialkyl borane and the amine is an amine having an amidine structural component; an aliphatic heterocycle having at least one nitrogen in the heterocyclic ring wherein the heterocyclic compound may also contain one or more nitrogen atoms, oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms, or double bonds in the heterocycle; a primary amine which in addition has one or more hydrogen bond accepting group wherein there is at least two carbon atoms, preferably three, between the primary amine and the hydrogen bond accepting group, such that due to inter- or intramolecular interactions within the complex the strength of the B-N bond is increased; or a conjugated imine. Preferred hydrogen bond accepting groups include the following: a secondary amine, a tertiary amine, an ether, a halogen, a polyether group or a polyamine group. The complexes of the invention are used in polymerizable compositions, adhesive compositions and coatings compositions containing compounds having moieties which polymerise under free radical polymerization conditions.
L'invention est un complexe d'amine-organoborane dans lequel l'organoborane est un borane de trialkyle et l'amine est une amine présentant un constituant structurel amidine; un hétérocycle aliphatique présentant au moins un azote dans le cycle hétérocyclique dans lequel le composé hétérocyclique peut aussi contenir un ou plusieurs atomes d'azote, atomes d'oxygène, atomes de soufre ou des doubles liaisons dans l'hétérocycle; une amine primaire qui en plus présente un ou plusieurs groupes accepteurs de liaisons hydrogène dans lesquels se trouvent au moins deux atomes de carbone, de préférence trois, entre l'amine primaire et les groupes accepteurs de liaisons hydrogène, de telle sorte que du fait des interactions intermoléculaires ou intramoléculaires dans le complexe, la résistance de la liaison B-N soit accrue; ou une imine conjuguée. On peut citer parmi les groupes accepteurs de liaisons hydrogène préférés: une amine secondaire, une amine tertiaire, un groupe éther, un groupe halogène, un groupe polyéther ou un groupe polyamine. Les complexes de l'invention sont utilisés dans des compositions polymérisables, des compositions adhésives ainsi que des compositions de revêtements contenant des composés présentant des fractions polymérisant dans des conditions de polymérisation radicalaire.
