The compounds 1,4,2-oxazaphospholidine-4-acetic acid, 2-alkoxy-2-oxides and their trialkyl-amine salts represented by the formula (see fig. I) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are individually selected from the group consisting of alkyl having from one to about four carbon atoms are useful as post emergent, selective herbicides and plant growth regulators.
