ABSTRACT 26474-96 New amino acid derivatives of the Formula I X-Z-NR2-CHR3-CHR4-(CHR5)n-CO-B-D (I) wherein X is, for example, hydrogen, Z is 0 to 4 amino acid residues bonded in peptide-like manner, B is absent or is Abu, Ala, Cal, Gly, Ile, Leu, Met, Nle or Val, D is Image , Y is NH, O or S, R2, R5 and R6 are each H or C1-C8-alkyl, R3 is, for example, C1-C8-alkyl, Ar or Ar- alkyl, R4 is OH or NH2, R7 is H, C1-C8-alkyl, cycloalkyl or Ar- alkyl, and n is 1 or 2. The new compounds and their salts inhibit the activity of human plasma renin as can be used for the prophylaxls and for the treatment of disorders of the heart, circulatlon and vessels, especlally of hypertension, cardiac insufficiency and hyperaldosteronism.
