ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Compounds of the formula: Image in which: D' is -CONHT' or -NHCOE'; T' is trihydroxybutyl or an acetal or ketal thereof; and E' is alkyl of from one to three carbon atoms having from zero to two oxy groups. The oxy groups are of from zero to three carbon atoms. two E' groups may be taken together to form a bond or alkylene group of from one to four carbon atoms having from zero to three oxy groups of from zero to two carbon atoms. The compounds are useful as intermediates in forming x-ray contrast agents.
