ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Nitrogen-containing compositions made by condensing an amino phenol, optionally bearing a ring substituent R, with a three- or four-membered ring heterocycle are useful as additives for lubricants and normally liquid fuels. In a typical embodiment, the amino phenol is an alkyl-substituted mono-nuclear amino phenol wherein the alkyl substituent has at least about 30 carbon atoms and the heterocycle is an epoxide or episulfide of two to 22 carbon atoms.
