A diagnostic agent for tumors which enables early discovery, monitoring of therapeutic effects, and prognostic diagnosis with respect to all tumors. The diagnostic agent for tumors contains a .delta.-aminolevulinic acid represented by the general formula (I): R2R1NCH2COCH2CH2COR3 (I) [wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents hydrogen, alkyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryl, or aralkyl; and R3 represents hydroxy, alkoxy, acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyloxy, aryloxy, aralkyloxy, or amino], a derivative of the acid, or a salt of either. After the diagnostic agent for tumors is administered, a sample taken from inside or outside the human body is examined for porphyrins to make a diagnosis.
La présente invention a pour objet un agent de diagnostic pour tumeurs qui permet de déceler à un stade précoce tous types de tumeurs, ainsi que d~établir des diagnostics et des pronostics, et d~effectuer l'évaluation et la surveillance d'effets thérapeutiques. L~agent de diagnostic pour tumeurs contient un acide .delta.-aminolévulinique de formule générale (I), un dérivé d'acide de ce composé, ou un sel de l'acide ou de l'un de ses dérivés : R2R1NCH2COCH2CH2COR3 (I) [où R1 et R2 représentent chacun un hydrogène ou un groupement alkyle, acyle, alkoxycarbonyle, aryle, ou arylalkyle, ces deux groupements pouvant être différents l'un de l'autre ; et R3 représente un groupement hydroxy, alkoxy, acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyloxy, aryloxy, arylalkoxy, ou amino]. Après l'administration de l~agent de diagnostic pour tumeurs, la présence de porphyrines est détectée dans un échantillon prélevé à l~intérieur ou à l~extérieur du corps humain, ceci afin d'établir un diagnostic.
